Photographing the Samuel Oschin Pavilion by ZGF at the California Science Center was an exercise in light, geometry, and scale, to say nothing of the unforgettable experience of being up close and personal with the Space Shuttle Endeavor for four days.
The pavilion’s contemporary exterior architecture creates a striking setting for Endeavour, balancing its absolutely monumental presence with a refined architectural language of structure, material, and proportion.
Clean lines and expansive surfaces frame the shuttle from constantly changing perspectives, while shifting light brings out layers of reflection, shadow, and texture on the almost iridescent exterior.
ZGF has created a building is both beautiful and recognizable without competing with its extraordinary centerpiece.
